Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
